Goettl*Sowa

No Rider Shirts

goettl\*sowa were fanatics about helicopter art and the extreme lack of its popularity and available product line during the late middle of the last century. To the degree that the two of them had to collect loose change and hire a guy they met at a bank one day to produce a silkscreen and hand print a load of shirts that he had to dry in his moms house and backyard. The simple beginnings of the Original Friggin Jet Ranger 206 shirt.

A box of shirts with this original print was carried by sowa in a white Ford fuel truck to Star Valley Wyoming for the summer seismic contract season of 1982. An instant hit with the nomadic juggy population and helicopter drivers. First out of state sale was made at the Corral Motel in downtown Afton , Wyoming . These two shirts are still owned by the same dude now living in Santa Fe N.Mex., look like hell having survived the torment of many years of seismic campaigns, (both he and the shirts) and will soon be available again in a very limited number (the shirt, not the dude). Sowa is trying to find the guy at the bank who has the screens.

The Napoleon Dynamite shirt was the third design from the goettl character and began its distribution by sowa once again in a white ford fuel truck towing a sweet red 46' chevy panel truck to Huntington, Utah; then to Price/Helper; then to Kemmerer Wyo., then to Nephi; ending its contract run in Heber City and finally Bear Lake Idaho.

A few of these shirts made it into Montana camps during a trip in the 46' up to Glacier Park . It is one of these original T's that survived twenty years of dormancy to show up center stage in a truly cult classic indy film on the back of Jon Heder. The shirts available today from goettl\*sowa are from these original screenings.
